Which Elite Models This Applies To

The SL-3000 and SL-5000 slide gate operators use a different control board layout than the CSW-200 swing gate line, and the Mirage series shares receivers with the SL-5000 but not with the smaller CSW-200. If you pull the cover off your Elite unit and look at the control board, you will see a small white sticker with the board revision number, something like EL-04 or EL-07. That revision number matters more than the operator model: an EL-04 board accepts a specific receiver module that an EL-07 board will not read, even if they are both wired into the same brand of operator.

Signs Your Elite Access Control Installation Is Failing

• Keypad accepts the code but the gate does not move. The keypad is transmitting, but the receiver module on the control board has stopped relaying the signal to the motor relay. We see this on Elite units in Camarillo after 5-7 years, often following a winter wet season that pushed moisture into the board enclosure.
• Remote works from ten feet but not from the street. The receiver antenna has corroded or pulled loose from its terminal. • Gate opens on its own or will not stay closed. The loop detector input is false-triggering, either because the detector module has drifted out of calibration or because a splice in the loop wire is getting wet. DIY or Call Us?

Access control work on an Elite operator is low-voltage, but it is not harmlessly simple. The receiver and keypad run on 12-24 volts DC, so you are not facing a shock hazard from the access module itself. But the control board sits inside the same enclosure as the motor’s high-voltage supply, which carries 120 or 240 volts AC. If you open that enclosure without disconnecting power at the breaker, you are working next to terminals that can seriously injure you. We do not recommend opening the operator cabinet if you are not comfortable identifying and locking out the supply circuit.

What an owner can safely check: whether the keypad backlight comes on, whether the remote battery is fresh, and whether any visible antenna wire has pulled loose from a clearly labeled terminal. Beyond that, the diagnostic path requires a multimeter and a knowledge of which Elite board revision you are working with, because probing the wrong terminal on an EL-04 versus an EL-07 yields completely different readings.
